In accordance with the provisions of Section 5.8.12 of the Disclosure and
Transparency Rules, Legal & General Group Plc ('the Group') has been advised
today that, as at 15 November 2007, Swiss Reinsurance Company ('Swiss Re') and
its subsidiary companies had a notifiable interest in the Group of 259,585,246
ordinary shares of 2.5p with voting rights. This represented 4.07% of the voting
capital as at 15 November 2007.



A copy of Swiss Re's notification to the Group (Form TR1) is attached.
