                           Purchase of Own Securities

Man Group plc announces that on 10 August 2007 it purchased for cancellation
1,000,000 of its ordinary shares at a price of 497.08 pence per ordinary share.

Since the start of the financial year on 1 April 2007, Man has repurchased
42,360,018 ordinary shares at a total cost of £239.6 million, giving an average
repurchase cost of 565.71 pence per ordinary share.
