Marks and Spencer Group plc - Non-Executive Director Appointment
Marks and Spencer Group plc (Marks & Spencer) today announces the appointment of Miranda Curtis to its Board as a Non-Executive Director. She will take up her appointment on 1 February 2012.
Miranda Curtis has considerable experience of consumer businesses internationally in cable, telephony and broadband. In a career of over 20 years with Liberty Media and Liberty Global, she helped develop significant businesses in these sectors across Europe and Asia. As President of Liberty Global Japan, Miranda played a major role in the creation and eventual sale of J:Com, a cable, broadband and telephony business formed by Liberty with Sumitomo Corporation. Liberty sold its stake in J:Com for approximately $4 billion in 2010.
Miranda has served on a number of private and public company boards across Asia and Europe. She is a Non-Executive Director of Liberty Global and has been a non-executive director of National Express plc since 2008. She is also on the Board of Governors of the Institute for Government. Miranda was recently appointed as Chairman of Waterstone's.
