Media Content plc (the 'Company') announces that it is developing
SportsMediaRights.com, an on-line marketplace for the exploitation of sports
television and media rights, an industry that the directors of the Company
estimate has an annual turnover of US$14 billion.
SportsMediaRights.com is being developed by Media Content Development Ltd, the
investment arm of the Company. SportsMediaRights.com is currently in the final
stage of development and is targeted to launch in May 2001 at Sportel America,
a leading sports television marketplace owned by Sportel Organisation, a
Monaco-based organisation that owns and organises Sportel Monaco and Sportel
America.
Media Content plc and Sportel Organisation have reached an agreement
appointing SportsMediaRights.com as the exclusive and official online market
place of Sportel Organisation. The agreement includes joint marketing
initiatives to develop the virtual sports rights marketplace.
David Tomatis, Executive Vice-President of Sportel Organisation, said: 'We are
excited about the prospects represented by this agreement between our two
organisations. We feel confident that SportsMediaRights.com will offer
numerous new business opportunities for our clients, both now and in the
future'.
Jean-Paul de la Fuente, CEO of Media Content plc, said: 'We are pleased to
have the opportunity to work closely with Sportel Organisation in the
development of SportsMediaRights.com. We fully expect the site will mirror the
success of the Sportel markets in this record attendance year.'
Leonard M. Fertig, Executive Chairman of Media Content Plc, said: 'The
combination of Sportel, the acknowledged industry leader in sports
marketplaces, with Media Content's independent distribution experience,
ensures that SportsMediaRights.com will become the benchmark of online sports
rights trading.'
