REPURCHASE OF ORDINARY SHARES FOR CANCELLATION

The Mercantile Investment Trust plc today purchased 304,239 ordinary shares for cancellation at 926.58 pence per share.

Following the transaction the remaining shares in issue total 100,894,729.
