Trading update ahead of Preliminary Results
MITIE Group PLC ('MITIE'), the group that services, maintains and improves
buildings and infrastructure, is issuing this trading statement ahead of its
Preliminary Results.
MITIE is pleased to confirm that its trading performance continues to be good,
producing growth in line with expectations. The outlook in its markets is
favourable and there is a good level of business opportunities.
Since the Interim Statement MITIE has secured major new contract wins and
extensions.
MITIE has won £100m of contracts to provide facilities services in schools that
have been funded by the Government's Private Finance Initiative (PFI) to schools
in Dudley, Caerphilly, Portsmouth, Sheffield, Northampton and Darlington. MITIE
has also been named preferred bidder for a facilities services contract for
Argyll and Bute schools. They are all 25 year contracts.
These contract wins will bring to over £300m the total value of schools
facilities contracts being operated by MITIE.
It has added £90m to its long term order book by signing an enlarged partnering
deal with total property outsourcing specialists Land Securities Trillium, part
of Land Securities Group PLC. The contract is now worth in excess of £200m.
MITIE has also secured a facilities management contract with Nissan Motor
Manufacturing UK Ltd at its Sunderland plant. The contract is worth
approximately £20m.
Two of MITIE's Directors changed their executive responsibilities with effect
from 1 April 2004. These changes occurred as part of MITIE's strategic business
plan and will enable MITIE to continue to provide customer focused services as
markets change.
Colin Hale has become Head of Support Services and has overall responsibility
for Cleaning, Catering, Security, Engineering Maintenance, Pest Control, Grounds
Maintenance, Business Services and Managed Services.
Roger Goodman has been appointed Group Corporate Development Director. He has
responsibility for developing the opportunities for growth in MITIE's markets
and the implementation of its sales strategy.
The Preliminary Results for the year ended 31 March 2004 will be announced on
Monday 7 June 2004.
