                     Appointment of an executive Director


M J Gleeson Group plc, the construction services, homes and property group, is
pleased to announce the appointment of Terry Massingham to the Board with
effect from 8 January 2002.

Terry joined the Group on 29 October 2001 as Managing Director of Gleeson
Homes and has over 25 years' experience in the house building industry. Before
joining the Group, Terry was Managing Director of Alfred McAlpine Homes
Southern Limited, having previously been Managing Director of Bryant Homes
Weald Limited and Trencherwood Homes Limited (in which capacity he served on
the Board of Trencherwood plc).

Terry holds 244 shares in the Company.

There are no disclosures required under section 16.4 of the Listing Rules and
no share options have been granted to him.

Gleeson's Executive Chairman, Dermot Gleeson, said: 'I am delighted to welcome
Terry to the Board of the Company and believe that his wealth of experience in
the house building sector will add further strength and depth to the Board.'
