The Company was informed by a letter dated 18 October 2004 that Schroder
Investment Management Limited, have an interest in 6,756,490 ordinary shares of
2p each ('Shares'), or 13.134 per cent of the issued ordinary share capital,
which are held in portfolios managed on a discretionary basis for clients under
investment management agreements.

Included in this figure are: -
     
(i)  3,891,990 Shares held in (a) unit trust(s) operated and managed by an 
     affiliated company, Schroder Unit Trusts Limited (SUTL), and registered or 
     to be registered in the name of Chase Nominees Limited.

(ii) 2,894,500 Shares neither registered or to be registered in the name of 
     Schroder Nominees.  The registration details are shown on the enclosed 
     schedule.


This notification is made: -

(a)  in respect of Schroder Investment Management Limited's interest as 
     investment managers;

(b)  on behalf of SUTL in relation to the interests they are treated as having 
     respectively under the Companies Act 1985 (the Act); and

(c)  on behalf of Schroders plc, as the holding company of both Schroder 
     Investment Management Limited and SUTL

The beneficial owners of the shares registered in the name of Schroder Nominees
