Investment Details
The Board of Matrix e-Ventures Fund VCT Plc is pleased to
announce that it has now made a further two investments,
details of which are included below, making a total of six
with £2.65 million invested.
e-Gas & Power Plc
In November the Company invested £350,000 in e-Gas & Power.
e-Gas & Power is a major broker of natural gas and
electricity in Europe using a telephone based trader set-up
with deals being undertaken by clients over the telephone
using data viewed on dedicated screens. The company is
expanding its operations by offering e-B2B exchange for gas
and electricity, first to UK customers and eventually to
other EU countries. Delivery is via the Internet with data,
including contracts, being communicated by e-mail.
i-Desk plc
On 21 November 2000, the Company invested £750,000 in
i-desk, in return for a 2 per cent. interest in the company.
iDesk provides outsourced technical helpdesk services,
mainly to UK Internet Service Providers and telecoms
companies. It currently supports over 2.5 million end
users. iDesk also supplies its support desk software 'OSM'
to corporate help-desks and has recently launched an
electronic bill presentation service.
In seeking to support and accelerate the growth of its
business, the company is currently generating operating
losses. The proceeds from the recent placing of shares will
be used to provide working capital and finance capital
expenditures and future operating losses.
