ISSUE OF EQUITY

The Board of Montanaro European Smaller Companies Trust plc announces that on 15 July 2011 the Company sold from treasury 875,000 Ordinary Shares at a price of 459.6p per share.

Following this sale the Company's issued share capital consists of 17,448,260 Ordinary Shares with no shares held in treasury.  Therefore the total number of shares with voting rights in the Company is 17,448,260 Ordinary Shares.

The above figure (17,448,260) may be used by shareholders as the denominator for the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify their interest in, or a change to their interest in, Montanaro European Smaller Companies Trust plc under the FSA's Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
