Ian Peacock said:
"After nine years on the Board, and with Mothercare in its 50th anniversary
year, I feel the time is right to move on and hand over to a new Chairman who
will help steer Mothercare through its next phase. I am very
pleased that Alan will be taking on the role and wish him, the Board and the
management team every success."
Ben Gordon, Chief Executive of Mothercare, said:
"We are thrilled that Alan is joining the Board of Mothercare as non-executive
Chairman. He brings with him extensive international experience in franchising
and in building consumer facing brands. Alan's expertise and guidance will
be invaluable as we continue on the next phase of Mothercare's development.
"On behalf of the Board I would like to thank Ian for his nine years as
Chairman.  During that time the business delivered a successful
turnaround and transformed a predominantly UK operation into a truly
international business in 55 countries around the world. Â Personally I also want
to thank Ian for his tremendous support over those years and wish him all the
best for the future."
Alan Parker said:
"Mothercare is a great company poised for future global expansion. I am
