Mothercare plc announces that it was advised today by Aegon Asset Management UK
that the Aegon UK plc Group of Companies has an increase in their notifiable
interest in the share capital of Mothercare plc.

The interest comprises 4,409,713 shares or 6.07% (previously 3,659,713 or 5.04%)
of Mothercare's issued share capital.

The notifiable interest of Aegon Asset Management UK is held by Chase Nominees
Limited.

Mothercare plc's issued share capital is currently 72,665,549 ordinary shares.
