Mothercare plc announces that it has been advised by M&G Investment Management
Limited that certain of the subsidiary companies of Prudential plc ('Prudential
plc') have increased their notifiable interest in the share capital of
Mothercare plc. Prudential plc's overall interest in Mothercare's share capital
is 8,836,948 Ordinary 50p shares equivalent to 12.12%


Within the total set out above, the holding of The Prudential Assurance Company
Limited now comprises 2,319,768 Ordinary 50p shares or 3.19%.

The notifiable interest of Prudential plc is as follows: -
