Mothercare announces leadership change
The Board of Mothercare plc announces today a forthcoming change in the leadership of the company with the departure of Ben Gordon from his role as Chief Executive by mutual consent. Ben will be stepping down on the date of the company's interim results on 17th November 2011.
Ben Gordon joined Mothercare plc in December 2002 and has transformed the group with the repositioning of the UK business, the Early Learning Centre acquisition, and the highly successful expansion of the group's international business which now operates in 55 countries worldwide.
Alan Parker, Chairman of Mothercare said, "We are grateful to Ben for the enormous change and improvement he has brought to Mothercare. On behalf of the Board, I want to thank Ben for his significant contribution to Mothercare and we wish him every success in the future."
Ben Gordon said, "Over the last nine years as Chief Executive I have overseen great changes in the group. I'm very proud of the Mothercare team and what we have built together. Mothercare is now one of the world's leading retail brands and has huge potential going forward. I wish the company all the best for the future."
Following Ben's departure the executive management of the company will report directly to the Chairman. The Board is commencing a search for a Chief Executive immediately.
