Appointment of New Non-Executive Director
Mothercare plc is pleased to announce the appointment of David Williams as a
non-executive director to the Board. David will join the board on 2 August 2004.
David (56) is an Operating Partner with the private equity firm Duke Street
Capital focusing on consumer investments. Previously he was Chief Executive
Officer of the Thresher Group, successfully transforming the company from a
brewery owned business into a specialist retailer. David was Chairman of Slug
and Lettuce plc. He has also held senior positions at Diageo plc, as President
of Burger King for Europe, Middle East and Africa region, and PepsiCo
Restaurants as President Worldwide Franchising, building significant businesses
through franchising.
Commenting on his appointment, Ian Peacock, Chairman, said:
'We are delighted to welcome David Williams to the Board of Mothercare. David
has significant retailing and brand experience both internationally and in the
UK, and he will be a great asset to the Mothercare team as we continue to grow
the business.'
