Mothercare plc, in accordance with best practice, confirms that it will release
pre-close trading statements at both the half-year and year-end.

Therefore, a pre-close trading statement will be released on Wednesday 8 October
2003 in advance of Mothercare's half-year end on 11 October 2003.

Mothercare's interim results announcement will be made on 20 November 2003.
