Board Appointment - New Group Finance Director
BRENDAN HYNES
Nichols plc, the soft drinks, food and foodservice group, is pleased to announce
that following a recent decision to restructure the Board, Brendan Hynes will be
joining the company as the group's new Group Finance Director, with effect from
1 October 2002.
Brendan, 42, a Chartered Management Accountant who qualified in 1985 and gained
an MBA in 1990 from Manchester Business School, joins Nichols from KPS plc, a
business support services company, where he was Group Finance Director. Prior to
this he was also Group Finance Director at William Baird plc (a major
manufacturer of retail branded clothing and sportswear). Additionally, he held
previous positions at PricewaterhouseCoopers and Pilkingtons plc.
Brendan has extensive commercial and financial experience at both operating
company and group level, including finance, tax, treasury, cash management, risk
management and IT. His wide experience of strategy development within both group
and operating company environments will provide greater balance to the Nichols
board, enabling it to meet better the ever changing business challenges the
group faces.
Simon Nichols, Nichols' current Finance Director, will assume the role of
Company Secretary and remain on the Board as a Director. Simon will have wide
ranging responsibilities in his new role including IT/IS strategy, legal and
financial compliance, together with environment, health and safety and risk
strategies.
John Nichols, Chairman, commented:
'We are delighted that Brendan has agreed to join us as our new Group Finance
Director. He has an extensive range of both financial and strategic experience
and I am sure he will be of enormous benefit to us'.
Notes to Editors:
Nichols plc has three principal operations: Soft Drinks (primarily involved in
the manufacture and sale of soft drinks, including Vimto, throughout the world

markets; Balmoral, supplier of hot beverage systems and Cabana, soft drinks on
draught) and Co-packing (which includes Stockpack, the group's contract food
packing operation).
