The Partnership signed between Orange and Nokia Networks aims at leveraging the benefits of virtualization applied to IMS (IP Multimedia core network Subsystem) for the operator business model and network architecture. As part of their joint 'Telco Cloud partnership', Orange and Nokia Networks have achieved one of the first voice calls in a fully virtualized IMS experimental environment.
This anticipation work is a significant step forward in Orange's strategy to leverage the power of Cloud and Network Function Virtualization (NFV), targeting a more agile service launch, self-healing and automated operations for networks.
