EBT purchase

The Board of Numis announces that, on 14 December 2004, the Numis Employee Share
Trust ('the EBT' or 'the Trust') purchased 5,000 (0.025%) Numis shares at price
of 750p per share.  Following this purchase of Numis shares the Trust holds
1,184,047 Numis shares (6.03%).

The Numis shares referred to above are Numis' ordinary shares of 25p per share
and the total number of shares in issue following the above are 19,646,303.
