EBT purchase



The Board of Numis announces that, on 12 January 2005, the Numis Employee Share
Trust ('the Trust') purchased 15,000 (0.07%) Numis shares at a price of 777.5p
per share.  Following this purchase of Numis shares the Trust holds 1,520,472
(7.54%) Numis shares.



The Numis shares referred to above are Numis' ordinary shares of 25p per share
and the total number of shares in issue is 20,172,982.
