                      Appointment of Deputy Finance Director



Old Mutual plc is pleased to announce the appointment of Richard Hoskins as
Deputy Finance Director with effect from 10 January 2005. He will work closely
with Julian Roberts, Group Finance Director, on strengthening the worldwide
finance and risk functions and will particularly head up the programme for the
introduction of International Accounting Standards and European Embedded Value
in 2005.


Richard joins from National Australia Bank, where he held a number of senior
positions before heading up National Australia Bank's insurance business in
Europe in 2003. A graduate of Sheffield University, he joined Deloitte in 1985,
specialising in the financial services sector. He moved with Deloitte to
Australia in 1989 and worked for a number of high profile Australian companies
including Qantas Airways, Lend Lease Corporation and MLC Limited, prior to
joining NAB in 2000.


Julian Roberts, Group Finance Director, said:

international credentials having worked in the UK, Asia and Australia. He has a
good knowledge of insurance issues and insurance accounting and has a
sophisticated understanding of the asset management business from his time at
MLC. He is also very experienced in the compliance, risk management and

Mutual continues to develop its business'.
