Old Mutual plc (the 'Company') announces that it has today received a notice
dated 27 October 2006 informing the Company that Barclays PLC, through the legal
entities listed below, had at 26 October 2006 a notifiable interest, for the
purposes of Part VI of the UK Companies Act 1985, in 4.98% of the Company's
ordinary share capital, represented by an aggregate holding of 273,401,092
shares.
