ON-LINE PLC 13 October 1999 ON-LINE PLC ('ON-LINE') On-line, the leading developer and publisher of Internet content, is pleased to announce the appointment of Philip David Thacker as a non-executive director. Thacker, 37, is currently a director (Japan) of The Dialog Corporation plc (LSE: DLG, NASDAQ: DIAL), a leading provider of Internet and intranet-based information, technology and e-commerce solutions to the corporate market. His principal role at Dialog has been to develop and maintain business with Japanese and Asian (China, Korea and Singapore) partners and subsidiaries. In addition, Philip was one of the key negotiators of a multi-million pound agreement concluded between Dialog and Fujitsu, a leading provider of comprehensive information technology and network solutions for the global marketplace. Since January 1997 he has also been an advisor for the British Government firstly to the Department of Trade and Industry and now the new export promotion organisation, British Trade International, on UK exports of software and telecoms to Japan under the 'Export Promoter' scheme established by Michael Heseltine and now under the direction of Stephen Byers. In addition, since 1998 he has been part of several DTI working groups formed to assist with developing strategies for the future of DTI export services relating to electronic methods (web, eCommerce etc).
