Appointment of CEO

Optare, the specialist bus and coach manufacturer, announces the appointment of its new Chief Executive Officer, Jim Sumner. Mr Sumner,43, joins from Leyland Trucks Ltd, a subsidiary of PACCAR Inc, where he held the role of Managing Director.  During his time at Leyland Trucks, Mr Sumner led the organisation through a series of key business achievements to achieve strong revenue and profit growth and increased market share.  

Commenting on the appointment, John Fickling, Chairman of Optare, said: 

'I am delighted to welcome Jim to the Board. With significant experience in business turnarounds, Jim has a proven track record of managing operational change and bringing new product innovations to market. He will be invaluable to us and further underpins the strength of the Board as we continue to grow our business.'
