Orca Interactive Wins Contract for the first Irish IPTV Deployment
Orca's middleware selected by an Irish operator for next generation triple play
services
RA'ANANA, Israel - November 23, 2004 - Orca Interactive (LSE:ORCA), a global
market leader in developing applications for TV over IP networks, announces
today that it has signed an agreement with a system integrator to provide a
turnkey IPTV service solution to a new next-generation triple-play operator in
Dublin, Ireland.
The service provider will establish a fiber to the house network in the Dublin
area to provide data, voice, TV and video on demand (VOD) services and plans to
have up to 70,000 subscribers for its IPTV service within two to three years.
The first subscribers are expected to be connected by December 1, 2004. The
initial service will involve 20,000 subscribers and will provide up to 40 TV
channels, an electronic program guide (EPG) and VOD. A second phase of the
project is planned to start by April 1, 2005 and will provide up to 110
channels, billing, CRM integration, a customised Subscriber User Interface,
encrypted TV, VOD and games.
As part of the agreement with the systems integrator, Orca Interactive will
provide the video server, encoder and content protection for the deployment in
addition to the middleware. Orca will therefore provide an end-to-end solution
that simplifies the system integration, thus lowering risk and costs.
Commenting on the deal, Haggai Barrel, CEO of Orca Interactive said:
'Today's announcement provides further evidence of the growing momentum in the
IPTV market. It is particularly encouraging to have another success in the
important European market. What's more, our project in Dublin will be the
third customer to take RiGHTv 4.2TM, the latest version of our software, which
was only launched last month.'
