ORIENTAL RESTAURANT GROUP PLC ('the Company')

DIRECTORS SHAREHOLDINGS

The Company was today informed of the following purchases
of ordinary shares of 5 pence each in the Company
('Shares') in which the directors have a beneficial
interest:

10,000 Shares purchased on 21 July 1999 at a price of
171p per Share by Mr Alan Jackson who was appointed as
Non Executive Chairman of the Company on 12 July 1999.
Following the purchase, Mr Jackson has an interest in
10,000 Shares which represents 0.10 per cent. of the
Company's issued share capital.

11,500 Shares purchased on 21 July 1999 at a price of
171p per Share by Mrs Petronel Turnbull, wife of Mr
Anthony Turnbull.  These Shares represent 0.12 per cent
of the Company's issued share capital.  Following this
purchase, Mr Turnbull is beneficially interested in
18,000 Shares, representing 0.19 per cent of the
Company's issued share capital.

On 19 July 1999, Mr Michael Paterson exercised options in
respect of 20,000 Shares at an exercise price of 20p per
Share.  As a result of this exercise, Mr Paterson is
interested in 949,790 Shares representing 9.88 per cent
of the Company's issued share capital.
