PARITY GROUP PLC
PARITY APPOINTED TO DEVELOP WORLD-CLASS MULTIMEDIA
CALL CENTRE FOR GENERAL MEDICAL COUNCIL
First fruit of Parity's new partnership with Apropos Technology
Parity Solutions, the e-business solutions division of Parity Group plc, has
been awarded a contract to develop a world class multimedia call centre for
the General Medical Council ('GMC'), the statutory body that licenses doctors
to practise in the UK. The new call centre will be based on Apropos' 'Total
Interaction Management' software, a multimedia web-enabled package for
customer interaction centres. This is the first contract won by the new
partnership between Parity and Apropos Technology Inc., which is also being
announced today.
The new call centre will enable enquirers about doctors' registrations to
contact the GMC at any time of the day or night from around the world. The
system will provide a more efficient and user-friendly service to doctors
through intelligent routing of calls to those operators with the skills and
knowledge appropriate to the call subject. It will also provide a platform for
the future through web and e-mail capabilities enabling users of the product
to take advantage of advances in technology.
The new system will also provide the Council's automated enquiry service
whereby doctors and their employers can make up-to-the-minute checks about
registration status 24 hours a day. In excess of 100,000 calls are made to
this service each year.
The call centre is the latest phase of an ongoing £1.4 million e-business
project with Parity to develop a state-of-the-art Integrated Registration
System ('IRS') for all doctors practising or wishing to practice in the UK. As
part of this development, the GMC's Registration Directorate is undertaking a
radical change in its business processes, which will result in major changes
in its day-to-day operations. The new system will also provide better
management control through standard management reports, the identification and
analysis of trends, and the ability to report on specific subjects.
Commenting on the contract, Keith Jennings, Managing Director of Parity
Solutions, said, 'This project for the GMC is an area of important development
for Parity Solutions and our partnership programme. We are particularly
pleased that a wide range of Parity Solutions services are being used on the
project, including the involvement of Parity Training in helping GMC staff
through the change process'.
