Statement relating to Press Speculation

Petra Diamonds Limited ('Petra'), the AIM quoted mining group, notes the recent
press speculation regarding a potential deal with a major mining company.

Petra can confirm that it is in discussions with a third party relating to the
Alto Cuilo project in Angola. However, whilst these discussions are ongoing,
there can be no certainty that an agreement will be reached. If the discussions
progress to an agreement, then a further announcement will be made.
