PETROFAC LIMITED

PETROFAC / SIEMENS CONSORTIUM AWARDED OFFSHORE WIND CONTRACT IN NORTH SEA

Petrofac, the international service provider to the oil and gas industry, announces that in consortium with Siemens it has been awarded a major contract from TenneT, the German-Dutch transmission grid operator, for the BorWin3 offshore wind farm grid connection in the North Sea.

Petrofac will be responsible for the construction and offshore installation of the BorWin3 platform, which will house a Siemens high voltage direct current (HVDC) station that converts the alternating current produced by the wind turbines to direct current before transmitting it onshore to the German national grid. The HVDC station will be one of the biggest of its kind with a transmission capacity of 900 megawatts (MW). The commencement of commercial operation of Borwin3 is scheduled for 2019.

Marwan Chedid, Chief Executive of Petrofac's Engineering, Construction, Operations and Maintenance (ECOM) business, said: "Petrofac is involved in a number of projects with TenneT in the German North Sea in which we are supporting the development and maintenance of offshore transmission systems. We are delighted to be partnering with Siemens on this significant contract, which deepens a relationship with an important customer and allows us to utilise our vast experience of operating in the North Sea and delivering large scale, complex projects."

Since January 2009 Petrofac has also been providing people, maintenance and support services to the adjacent Borwin alpha platform, which is also operated by TenneT and houses a 400MW HVDC platform. In 2010 Petrofac began supplying engineering, design, construction and project management services to the DolWin1 HVDC platform and in 2012 established Petrofac Deutschland GmbH, based in Hamburg.
