Situation in Ethiopia
Pittards plc, the specialist producer of technically advanced leather and luxury leather goods for sale to retailers, manufacturers and distributors today announces that following heightened social unrest in Ethiopia the Ethiopian Prime Minister has declared a state of emergency for six months. In addition the Foreign and Commonwealth Office have advised against all but essential travel to various regions including East Shewa where our Ethiopian tannery is located although our glove factories are located in Addis Ababa which is not affected. At this time we do not envisage significant disruption to our production however we continue to monitor the situation closely and we have detailed contingency plans in place should the situation deteriorate.
Our ongoing strategy of dual production in the UK and Ethiopia gives us a level of protection from any interruption in production.
