                            Appointment of Director


Polar Capital Holdings plc (the 'Company'), the specialist asset management
group, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Michael Thomas as an
additional non-executive director with effect from 15 January 2008.

Mr Thomas was a director of Martin Currie Limited and Investment Manager of the
Japanese Team until his retirement in 2007. He remains on the board of Martin
Currie Pacific Investment Trust plc.
