Arthur Ralley Appointed as an Executive Director

Portmeirion Potteries (Holdings) PLC announces that Mr Arthur
Ralley has been appointed an Executive Director of the Company
with immediate effect.

Mr Ralley joined Portmeirion as a Non-executive Director in
1996 and has been Non-executive Chairman - designate since
March 1999. As previously announced, it is planned that he
will become Chairman at the Company's Annual General Meeting
in May 2000 when Mr Euan Cooper-Willis, the Company's joint
founder, steps down as Chairman to become a Non-executive
Director.
