The Board of CSS Stellar plc ('CSS' or 'the Group') is pleased to announce the
appointment of Caroline Michel as chief executive of PFD, its international
literary and talent agency. She will also join the CSS board as an executive
director.
Since 2005 Caroline Michel has been Managing Director of the William Morris
Agency in the UK, the US owned international literary and talent agency. Before
joining WMA she was Managing Director and Publisher of Harper Press, the
literary division of Harper Collins, following ten years as Publisher of
Vintage, the paperback division of Random House. She was one of the Founder
Directors of Bloomsbury Publishing, is a Governor of the British Film Institute
(BFI), a Board Member of PEN - the community for writers and readers around the
world - and was on the Man Booker Prize Committee for five years.
She has represented and published writers such as Jeanette Winterson, Ian
McEwan, Rose Tremain, Salman Rushdie, AS Byatt, Simon Schama, Lisa Jardine, and
Martin Amis.
Jim Wiatt, Chairman and Chief Executive William Morris, said: 'Caroline Michel
has been a tremendous colleague and friend over the past two years and has
played a key role in the success of our U.K. based business. I'm incredibly
pleased that she has the opportunity to take the next step in her career and we
wish her the best of luck.'
David Buchler, Executive Chairman of CSS, said: 'This is part of the long-term
re-shaping of CSS, as we seek out the right people across all our business areas
and place them within the Group to make significant impact over the long term.
Caroline has a terrific reputation and she has the ability to make a very
important contribution. Her departure from WMA is entirely amicable and she will
join us shortly.'
Caroline Michel said: 'The opportunity to join PFD at this time in its history
is unmissable. The challenge is to build on the company's successes and develop
the business recognising that the entertainment sector is the fastest growing
industry in the world. We must take full advantage of the range and scope of
possibilities this presents to our agency business and in particular to our
clients. WMA has been a wonderful place to work and it has given me the
opportunity to work alongside some of the best people in the business. I have
loved being there and I am sure that there will be many mutual opportunities to
explore with WMA in the future.'
Note to editors
Caroline Michel is married to Matthew Evans, Lord Evans of Temple Guiting,
former chairman and managing director of Faber and Faber.
