                               BOARD ANNOUNCEMENT


The board of Quintain announces the appointment of Simon Laffin as Non-Executive
Director, with immediate effect. Simon is an Industrial Adviser to CVC Capital
Partners, and was previously Group Finance and Property Director of Safeway plc.
He was also recently appointed as a Non-Executive Director of Northern Rock plc.

John Plender, Chairman of Quintain, commented:

'Simon brings with him a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of a
broad range of business sectors. We are delighted to welcome him to Quintain and
look forward to benefiting from his experience which will provide a new
dimension and expertise to the Board.'
