                       Acquisition and Additional Listing


The Board of Rathbones today announces the acquisition by Rathbone Trust Company
Jersey Limited of the business assets and goodwill associated with the trust
company business of Galsworthy & Stones for initial consideration of £3,212,545.
Application will be made to the London Stock Exchange and to the UK Listing
Authority for the admission of 104,473 5p Ordinary Shares which will be issued
as part of the consideration. The shares will rank pari passu with the existing
Ordinary Shares.
