Trinity Mirror PLC 31 July 2003 ANNOUNCEMENT - DISPOSAL PLAN FOR DIVISION Trinity Mirror announces disposal plan for its newspaper division located in Northern Ireland Trinity Mirror plc ('Trinity Mirror') today announces that it is planning to dispose of its newspaper division located in Northern Ireland. The division comprises the Derry Journal ('Derry') and Century Press & Publishing ('Century') businesses which publish 6 titles in Northern Ireland and 3 titles in the north of the Republic of Ireland. Century publishes The News Letter in Belfast, the Belfast News and Farming Life. Derry publishes the Derry Journal, the Donegal Democrat, the Donegal People's Press, the Letterkenny Listener, the Foyle News and the City News. The titles are amongst the longest established newspapers in the country and have made an important contribution to Trinity Mirror's performance over the last few years. However, following a review of Trinity Mirror's newspaper operations the Board has concluded that although performing strongly, the Northern Ireland newspaper division is non-core to the Group's business operations.
