RED ROCK RESOURCES PLC
Update - exploration and production
Dated: 26 July 2011
Red Rock Resources plc ("Red Rock" or the "Company"), the mining and exploration company with gold projects in Kenya and Colombia, exploration in Greenland, and interests in steel feed, uranium, and rare earths reports on exploration and production.
Colombia
At the El Limon gold mine in Colombia, preliminary figures (subject to revision) show gold sales in the first three weeks of July to be 6.76 kg (217.5 oz) with an input grade to the plant of 10.1 grams per ton. These figures represent a continuation of the trend of gradual improvement as new working practices are introduced and mine development continues. Future production figures will be declared on a monthly basis.
New pumps have been delivered, and the first of two hydraulic shovels has just been delivered on site. It is expected that a new filter press and a further hydraulic shovel will be delivered in early August 2011. The delivery and installation of these items is expected to lead to better mine production and grade, and improved gold recoveries in the plant.
Greenland
The three exploration iron ore teams have finished work at Camps 1 and 2, and moved to Camp 3. The first batch of samples has been flown out for delivery to the test laboratory.
The airborne magnetic and radiometric survey is expected to begin later today, with the aircraft already mobilized to site.
Kenya
1. At the Migori gold project in Kenya, 20,597 metres of drilling have been completed on the infill drilling programme on the areas covered by the existing NI 43-101 Indicated resource of 1.2m oz. A new Resource figure will be calculated and released this Autumn, initially on the KKM Indicated Resource, but eventually on all areas.
On new targets, frequently associated with old mines, on the under-explored Eastern license, a total of 900 metres of scout drilling has been completed to date.
In the areas along the 63km strike which are under light cover, where no substantial exploration is known to have occurred, 7,513 metres of air core drilling has been completed.
Total metres drilled to date are 29,010 metres.
2. At the Macalder/Barnabas copper-gold Volcanogenic Massive Sulphide (VMS) project, ground induced polarisation (IP) survey and drilling will be carried out in the next few days over areas identified as priority Versatile Time Domain Electromagnetic (VTEM) targets, both at the site of the old Macalder mine, where an extensive mapping programme is under way, and at the southern banded iron formation (BIF) target (now renamed Barnabas) to the south and along a parallel structure. The initial drilling will help refine targets derived from the VTEM survey, from mapping, and from the IP survey and further drilling is planned later in the year.
3. At the Macalder tailings site, a revised Resource estimate is under way and results will be announced shortly. Sr Alvarado, whose appointment as Chief Mining Operations and Development Officer was announced on 9 May 2011, will be working with local executives on a fast tracked internal feasibility study.
