Sandvika, July 20, 2010: Renewable Energy Corporation ASA (REC) reported revenue
of NOK 2,758 million in the second quarter 2010, an increase of 17 percent from
the first quarter 2010.
REC saw strong overall market demand for all products in the quarter.
Operational performance improved in all divisions in the quarter and the ramp-up
of the new integrated wafer, cell and module plant in Singapore is progressing
well.
Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) amounted
to NOK 455 million in the second quarter, compared to NOK 415 million in the
first quarter. The EBITDA margin decreased to 16 percent from 18 percent in the
previous quarter.
Operational results in the second quarter were positively affected by higher
sales volumes and improved polysilicon prices, but continue to be negatively
affected by assets under ramp-up.
Operating profit (EBIT) was a negative NOK 146 million in the second quarter,
compared to a negative NOK 125 million in the previous quarter.
Net financial items amounted to NOK 1,012 million in the second quarter, up from
NOK 855 million in the first quarter. Profit before tax was thus NOK 866 million
in the second quarter 2010, compared to NOK 730 million in the first quarter
2010.
