Sandvika, October 27, 2010: Renewable Energy Corporation ASA (REC) reported
revenues of NOK 3,783 million in the third quarter 2010, an increase of 37
percent from the second quarter 2010.
Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) amounted
to NOK 827 million in the third quarter, up from NOK 455 million in the second
quarter. The EBITDA margin increased to 22 percent from 16 percent in the
previous quarter.
Adjusted for restructuring costs related to the close down of the module plant
in Glava preliminary estimated to NOK 93 million and reversal of NOK 37 million
of the provision for junction box repair, the underlying third quarter EBITDA
was NOK 882 million.
REC saw continued strong demand across all product areas in the third quarter,
however there were only minor changes to the average selling prices compared to
the previous quarter.
Operational results in the third quarter were positively affected by higher
sales volumes and continued ramp-up of the new Singapore production facility.
Furthermore EBITDA was in third quarter negatively affected by the power outage
in REC Silicon with an estimated negative EBITDA impact of NOK 50 million.
Operating profit (EBIT) was NOK 155 million in the third quarter, compared to a
negative NOK 146 million in the previous quarter.
Net financial items was negatively impacted by changes in currency rates and
fair value adjustments of convertible bond and amounted to a negative NOK 1,158
million in the third quarter compared to positive NOK 1,012 million in the
second quarter.
Profit before tax was thus a negative NOK 1,003 million in the third quarter,
compared to NOK 866 million in the second quarter.
Basic EPS from continuing operations was a negative NOK 0.90 for the third
quarter, compared to NOK 0.65 in the second quarter.
