Further Steps Along Acquisition Trail for Shanks
Waste management company, Shanks Group plc, has added two more small
businesses to its UK operations.
Glasgow-based specialist contaminated land remediation company Bio-Logic
Remediation Limited and ASM Waste Services Limited, based in Aylesbury, Bucks,
have been bought up by Shanks in separate agreements worth an aggregate total
of circa £10 million.
Bio-Logic, although having a specialist staff of only 12, is the UK market
leader in bio-remediation of contaminated land, having pioneered the use of
microbes in the treatment of organic pollutants such as tars and oils.
The purchase of ASM Waste Services, which employs 65, also includes a fleet of
40 dry-waste collection vehicles together with a waste transfer station and
recycling facility.
Group Chief Executive Michael Averill said: 'Bio-Logic will enhance
considerably the already strong presence Shanks enjoys in the contaminated
land remediation sector, whilst ASM fits so naturally with existing waste
collection activities in the northern Home Counties.'
