                                AGM Statement






Precision engineering group, Renold plc, the leading international
manufacturer and supplier of chains, gears, couplings, machine tools and
rotors, held its Annual General Meeting at 2.30pm today. At the meeting,
Chairman Roger Leverton gave the following statement on current trading:-


'I have little to add to my prospects statement in the Report and Accounts
written last month when I indicated that North American markets were
performing less well than last year. This has continued through the first
quarter especially in the machine tool and rotor business. Overall the
performance of the core power transmission business remains satisfactory.'
