AMENDED ARTICLES OF ASSOCIATION

Further to Rio Tinto plc's Annual General Meeting which took place on Wednesday 15 April 2009, part (b) of Resolution 14, the amendment of Rio Tinto plc articles of association, became effective from 00.01 am on 1 October 2009 when all the provisions of the UK Companies Act 2006 came into force.  

In accordance with the UK Listing Authority's Listing Rule, LR 9.6.3(1), of copy of the amended articles of association have today been submitted to the UK Listing Authority ('UKLA') and will shortly be available for inspection at the UKLA's Document Viewing Facility, which is situated at the Financial Services Authority, 25 The North Colonnade, Canary Wharf, London E14 5HS
