Further re Offer for All Shares in Comalco Limited

The following was released to the Australian Stock Exchange by
Rio Tinto Limited today.
On 24 February 2000, Rio Tinto Limited announced its intention
to offer A$9.50 per share for all the shares in Comalco
Limited that it does not already own. In relation to this
offer, Comalco Limited shareholders registered at close of
business on 7 March 2000 (10pm in respect of holdings on the
CHESS Subregister), will receive the already declared
unfranked final dividend of A19 cents per share, payable on
21 March 2000. The ex-dividend date for Comalco Limited is
Wednesday 1 March.
As previously stated, Rio Tinto expects to make its offer
after the Corporate Law Economic Reform Program Act becomes
effective on 13 March 2000.
