Mr Charles Bailey, a director of RIT Capital Partners plc ('RITCP'), today
advised the Company that he purchased a beneficial interest in 2,700 RITCP
ordinary shares on 28 January 2003 at 375p. Following this purchase, Mr Bailey's
total beneficial interest in RITCP ordinary shares is 8,200 shares.
