Following the sale of 1,000,000 RIT Capital Partners plc ('RITCP') ordinary
shares on 5 December 2001 by The Equitable Life Assurance Society ('The
Equitable') the disclosable shareholding of The Equitable in the ordinary
shares of RITCP is now 5,926,023 (3.77% of the issued ordinary share capital
of RITCP - previously 4.83%).
