RM takes honours at BETT 2004
RM plc, the leading supplier of information and communications technology (ICT)
and other services to UK education, has received a number of accolades at BETT
2004, the UK's major educational ICT showcase, as well as being awarded a
further contract for continuing professional development (CPD) materials by the
Department for Education and Skills (DfES).
RM has achieved top place in a number of important categories in the annual
Becta Performance IndICaTor survey. The Performance IndICaTor is large scale
survey of schools performed on behalf of government agency Becta and provides an
authoritative view of how effectively suppliers are meeting the needs of the
schools marketplace. Amongst other categories, RM received top marks for Best
Technical Support from a Computer Supplier, Awareness of Schools' Needs and
Internet Filtering. RM is also recognised as the ICT supplier that schools are
most likely to purchase from again.
RM's innovative Tablet PC has received a BETT Award in the Secondary Hardware
category. The BETT Awards scheme is sponsored by Becta, the Times Educational
Supplement and EMAP. Awards are voted for by a panel of high profile education
experts and recognise the most innovative and educationally effective products
of the year.
RM's interactive design subsidiary, 3T Productions, has been awarded a £1
million contract by the DfES to provide further CPD materials in the INDIGO
Visions range. Under the contract, 3T will create materials for the curriculum
subjects of history, music and citizenship at Key Stage 3.
Tim Pearson, RM's CEO, commented:
'Customer satisfaction is the number one priority for RM, so it's very pleasing
to see that our technical support and our understanding of schools' needs are
rated so highly by schools. I'm also pleased that the innovation demonstrated
by the Tablet PC has been recognised in the BETT Awards scheme.
'Last year at BETT we announced that the Group had been awarded a contract to
develop CPD materials for the DfES. A year on, we've delivered some very high
quality materials, we're establishing INDIGO Visions as a recognised CPD brand,
and we've been asked to develop additional materials. It's a good example of
the new areas the RM Group is getting involved in.'

and is described by EMAP, the organisers, as '... the world's leading forum for
educational technology and ICT related products and services ...'. Last year
over 24,000 people visited BETT and approximately 550 organisations exhibited.
Independent research suggests that two-thirds of attendees at BETT visit the RM
stand.
