RM - Changes to Directorate
RM plc, the UK's leading supplier of ICT and other services to education,
announces that Mike O'Regan is to stand down as a Non-Executive Director on the
31st May 2004 and that, following the completion of his assignment as London
Schools Commissioner, Professor Tim Brighouse has accepted an invitation to
rejoin the Board as a Non-Executive Director with immediate effect.
Following these changes, RM's Board will comprise a Non-Executive Chairman, five
independent Non-Executive Directors and three Executive Directors.
Mike O'Regan co-founded RM with Mike Fischer in 1973. He served as an Executive
Director for 20 years and has been a Non-Executive Director since 1992.
Professor Tim Brighouse is one of the UK's most respected educationalists. He is
the former Chief Education Officer of Birmingham City Council, where he
transformed a poorly-performing local education authority into one with an
international reputation for educational excellence. Tim served on RM's Board
between October 2002 and January 2003, when he stood down on his appointment by
the Department for Education and Skills as London Schools Commissioner
John Leighfield, Chairman of RM plc, commented:
'Mike O'Regan's 30-year contribution to the development of RM has been
invaluable. More than that, he and Mike Fischer deserve credit for their
pioneering work in educational ICT and for the role they have played in making
the UK a world leader in this area. His presence on the Board will be missed,
but he will continue to contribute to RM's development through membership of the
RM Education Advisory Council.
'I am delighted to welcome Tim Brighouse back to the Board. Tim has a passion
for education and an enthusiasm for the educational potential of ICT. In his
brief period as a Board member in 2002 his educational insight and wise counsel
were highly valued by colleagues throughout RM.
'The quality of RM's Board is a significant asset to the Group. We are fortunate
to have five independent Non-Executive Directors of the highest calibre and with
extremely wide-ranging experience.'
