                               CORPORATE UPDATE:
                     APPOINTMENT OF NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

ROC is very pleased to advise that Dr Doug Schwebel has been appointed as a
Non-Executive Director of the Company, effective 1 September, 2007.

Dr Schwebel retired from the position of Exploration Director of Esso Australia
in 2006, after 26 years with ExxonMobil. Melbourne-based Dr Schwebel is a
geologist by background, with a BSc (Hons) from Sydney University and a PhD from
Flinders University in South Australia. He has had extensive exposure to various
petroleum systems and upstream petroleum management practices not only in
Australia and South East Asia, but also other parts of the world. Positions held
by Dr Schwebel during his career with ExxonMobil include Exploration Advisor in
Houston, Production Geology Manager in Sydney; Manager Planning in Melbourne and
International Planning Advisor in New Jersey. As a result of being on the boards
of several of ExxonMobil's upstream Australian companies, Dr Schwebel also has a
high level of experience in corporate governance and asset acquisition and
divestment activities. Dr Schwebel has also represented ExxonMobil on various
Australian government, industry and academic bodies.

Commenting on Dr Schwebel's appointment, ROC's Chief Executive Officer, Dr John
Doran, stated that:

'Doug has a very high-standing reputation within and beyond the Australian
upstream oil and gas industry, but no prior association with ROC. This is a
positive and quite deliberate combination of circumstances designed to send a
clear signal that ROC is continuing to implement a corporate refreshment process
that it initiated earlier this year in response to its recent and continuing
growth. In this growth context, Doug will further enhance the collective
industry skill set of the ROC Board and therefore, it is a pleasure to welcome
him to the Company.'
