ROLLS-ROYCE PLC WINS US$120 MILLION TRENT ORDER FROM ILFC
Rolls-Royce plc has received a firm order for Trent 500 engines to power three
Airbus Industrie A340-600 aircraft selected by International Lease Finance
Corporation (ILFC).
The engine order, valued at US$120 million, brings the total number of firm
and option orders for Trent powered A340-500 and 600 aircraft to 129
worldwide. With ten customers, Rolls-Royce has the sole engine on growth
versions of the A340 and has achieved record advanced sales, of more than $5
billion.
John Cheffins, Rolls-Royce Managing Director - Airlines, said: 'This is
welcome repeat business from ILFC and a further endorsement of the competitive
advantages that Trent engine technology brings to our customers.'
This latest order from Los Angeles based ILFC will bring its total number of
Trent powered A340s to 13, adding to the 10 firm aircraft selected by the
operator in 1998. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in June 2002.
ILFC also has a total of eight Trent 800 powered Boeing 777s, six Trent 700
powered Airbus A330s and two Boeing 757s powered by the RB211-535 on firm
order, adding to its in-service fleet of 40 757-200s and six A330s.
This brings the total value of Rolls-Royce plc orders announced this year to
nearly five and a half billion dollars.
