ROLLS-ROYCE WINS EIGHT NEW MARINE CONTRACTS
Rolls-Royce plc has won eight new marine contracts for vessel concept, design
and supply of integrated propulsion systems for offshore vessels. With these
new contracts, Rolls-Royce now has 28 offshore vessels on its order books, 19
of which have been won this year.
Bob Sunerton, Managing Director - Marine, for Rolls-Royce said: 'Activity in
the offshore specialist vessels market is on the increase and this is a sector
in which we are very competitive. These new contracts are a further example
of our ability to supply customers with complete marine solutions - from
design to propulsion systems and steering gear.
'Today's new orders underpin our marine business strategy to supply total
systems solutions to this growing market. We expect to enter into further
contracts in the near future. Following our acquisition of Vickers last year,
the marine business of Rolls-Royce is now the largest supplier of marine
propulsion systems and equipment in the world.'
The eight contracts were entered into with shipyards and shipping companies
from around the world. They contain a comprehensive range of ship equipment
that Rolls-Royce can deliver, including engines, winches, propeller systems,
steering gear, rudders, bulk handling and automation systems.
